Ponnvanam is a 60-acre farm in Pollachi growing Barhi dates, coconut, tender coconut, arecanut and black pepper. Our date harvest runs August to October — after India's only other commercial date belt has closed for the year. Buyers load at the farm.

The striped bar is Kutch in Gujarat, India's only other commercial date belt. It harvests from mid-June and must finish before the monsoon. From August to October, fresh khalal Barhi is not available anywhere else in the country — and it cannot be imported, because the fruit turns within days.

- Per kilogram, ex-farm Pollachi. Transport and loading labour are the buyer's.
- Minimum lot
- 50 kg for a first trial. No minimum after the first load.
- Loading hours
- 6 am to 6 pm, seven days a week through the harvest
- Shelf life
- Two to three days at ambient. Refrigerate on arrival and it holds far longer. Move it quickly.
- Payment
- On loading, by UPI or bank transfer. Credit terms only once we have traded.

Your vehicle loads
Come to the farm. Everything is weighed in front of you and loaded onto your truck. Tar road access up to the gate.
STEP 04
Settle and go
Payment on loading by UPI or transfer. You get a weighment slip. Repeat buyers get first call on each day's pick.
